Dance planner

I have been looking into famous hits in the 80's.
 I found a range of different songs, there was 11 songs that I liked, but researching into them more, I narrated it down to 4 songs. 2 of them I really enjoyed listening to them, due to the beat it made it alot more interesting and connected with the styles I am focusing on.

The songs that I am focusing on at the moment are;
  • 'Push it' by salt and pepper.
  • pump up the jam' Technotronic
  • PYT / michael jackson
I really am focusing on the Pump up the jam song due to so many styles that could interpret into this dance, exspecially house which is what I am choreographing at the moment.
This song has an up beat and due to this I can therefore make the piece that I am choreographing, dynamics very strong and bouncy, with alot of characterisation.

I found some famous moves that were created in the 80's.
  • Moon walk due to Michael Jackson
  • The electric slide, this required alot of foot co-ordination and movement from left and right
  • The Cabbage Patch I had already learnt in lesson, this was all control in the arms, with sharpe dynamics.
  • Rogger Rabbit -
  • The sprinkler
  • The Running man
  • The worm, this is well known in todays century.

I fully am aware of how to demonstrate a motif development through jazz now.
Today I had a range of photo's in which I needed to create with my group to develop tablexues. I had a picture that represented being part of a performance, my character was to be slutty, due to during this era, individuals expescially women would perform like this to get money.

Introduction to choreographic principles

Choreography is a dance, movement or routine

My first assignment is to create/ choreograph your own duo to perform in the first showcase 11th December 2013

No copyright can be made!!!!
I can use influences from other professionals dance, yet not copy it.

My partner is Elliotte I'm feeling pretty positive about my choice of partnership due to with both of us we could engage in a majority of styles for our choreograph

Our stimuli is Era's of dance/ decades
Therefore now I have my starting point I will now needs to research different dance styles throughout the era's aswell as music for the performance.

Plan ;
Starting point is the stimuli which I have , this will now give myself direction and ideas on inspirations connected with the stimuli

2) forms :
 Lyrical
Pictures
Objects
Themes
Books
character
Current affairs
Sculptures

Ideas; Michael Jackson moves -pose
Elvis Presley - hips

Timeline of different styles and era's , by researching into these I will then be able to see which styles I like and could develop, I will then be aware of the era, and could go into further development like researching clothing , famous people in this era, aswell as the music listened to during the time formation.
This is a draft of the timeline ;

Some styles that was discussed in class were ;
Disco 1970's
Musicals - grass 1950's - 60's
Boy bands 90's ( comedy)
Girl bands
Old Skool 90's

era's of dance

Stimuli Research;

The stimuli I have been given is ' Era's of Dance'  I will be developing my personal research throughout and this will be an ongoing research as I shall be looking into further depth of te Era's that inspire me.

Firstly I have a big inspiration on the style 'House' therefore I want to look into further depth with this, as I only know the movements. I did not know the era or any addiional information, so I took the time to research and Develop my knowledge about 'HOUSE'

House started int he states of new york, Chicago in the late 80's, early 90's.
Simple fast / complex dynamics that rested in the foot - oriented steps, this was combined with fluid movements in the Torso, as well as floor work.

House dance is a social dance, primarily danced to house music, that has roots in the clubs. House originally was formed in the clubs, simple movements and freestyle that was then adapted in further context and the style then developed, outside of classes and actually has become popular

House Dance is an Amalgamtion of post 'Disco Era'.

House has 2 different styles these 'Jacking- Lofting ' these are intergrated with house movement.

I looked at youtube clips, this was called ' A Japense duo red bull bboy world championships'
youtube japense duo red bull bboy world championships

I personally felt this was an intense Battle and discovered what Jacking was due to not of heard or seen this physically before.

My inspirations on famous performers are ;
Ian Eastwood
Brian Puspos, Brian is in a dance crew called 'MOS WANTED CREW'.

House is a dance routine that can be intergrated into other routines as you can mix other routines like Wacking, popping with house, this can make it more stylish and tense.
